Piano For Children With Special Needs

“Where words fail, music speaks.” – Hans Christian Anderson

If you have a child with special needs and would like to introduce them to playing the piano as well as some basic music education, we can help. We work with children with different types of special needs from being visually impaired, autism and such.

At Joy With Music, we tailor make our classes specifically for any child with special needs who thinks differently and needs to learn in a different style.

Some of the key areas we cover in our lessons:

Basic Music Theory

We teach the student some basic music theory including history of music, understanding the instrument and notes in a fun and creative way to help stimulate their interests and creativity.

Creative Activities

To help stimulate the child’s creativity, we have simple activities around learning music such as games and art etc.

Aural Style

We use sound, rhyme, and music in this learning process to help develop the students ability to understand tonality, tempo, harmony and so on. This is also part of the playing by ear process.

Playing by Ear & Sight

We work with the student and train them on being able to play the piano by ear or sight. This is especially useful for students who are visually impaired

Some Testimonials

My child is now able to play the piano using Kugan’s guided method and he actually enjoys it very much! He looks forward for classes each week with excitement!
